Tech Tip: How to create a public SSL certificate for Citrix Netscaler 11 and installing it correctly.

Firstly, we’ll need to create an RSA private key.

  • Log on to your Netscaler 11 appliance and navigate to SSL.
  • Click Create RSA Key

part1

Specify a file name, you’ll need to remember this for the SSL install later.
Enter a Key Size, such as 2048
Select PEM as the Key Format Type

rsa-key

Click create and close

Creating Certificate Signing Request (CSR)

Under the SSL section click Create Certificate Signing Request (CSR)

csr-key (1)

Specify a Request File Name
Browse and select your RSA key, that we created above.
Select PEM as the key format
Fill in the appropriate information for your company under Distinguished Name Fields

csr

Click create and close
Send this CSR to whomever you purchased your certificate from – in my case, this was Go Daddy.

Next, we will install the certificate and link the intermediate CA cert.
